What Serany thinks about this poem

Meaning

He says he does not mind whether God exists so long as goodness does: he cares less about who prays than about who stands up when children are hurt. God, he decides, is a word like blue, a small sound people use for beauty they cannot otherwise describe. The best proof he can find is the goodness in the person he is talking to.

Who's it for

A family who are divided about religion, for somebody whose goodness was the whole of their faith. Right where half the room would walk out of a sermon and the other half needs one.
