Terms of Service

Using Serany
These terms apply when a funeral home (“you”) signs up for Serany (“we”, “us”) to publish farewell websites. By creating an account, you're agreeing to them.
Trial and payment
Every account starts with a 30-day free trial, no card required. Pricing is published upfront on our pricing page; there's no quote request and no sales call. If you choose a plan, payment is handled by Stripe, and you can cancel at any time. If you cancel or a payment fails, farewell websites you've already published stay online. You just can't publish a new one until you're back on a plan.
Your account
You're responsible for the accuracy of what you publish, and for keeping your login secure. If you give a family member an editing link for a website (see our editing access feature), you're responsible for who you send it to. Anyone with that link can edit that website without a separate account of their own.
Support access
Serany staff can sign into your account to help you: to look into a problem you've reported, to put something right, or to set your branding up for you if you'd rather we did it. We may also need to sign in to keep the service running properly.
We sign in using a Serany account attached to yours, never with your own login, and we see the same screens your staff see. That includes farewell websites you've created and what families and visitors have left on them. We only use that access to support you and to run the service.
Acceptable use
Farewell websites commemorate a real person who has died. Don't use Serany to publish anything unlawful, abusive, or knowingly false. Memories and other contributions left by visitors are screened before they appear, and we can remove content, or restrict an account, that breaks these terms.
Who owns what
You, or the family you're publishing on behalf of, keep ownership of everything you publish: photographs, the obituary, and every other piece of content. We only use it to host and display the website as part of providing the service to you.
Third-party services
We rely on other companies to provide parts of the service: Stripe for payment, Resend for login email, Google for venue lookups and maps, Supabase and Vercel for hosting, Anthropic for checking what visitors submit, and PostHog for error monitoring. Our Privacy Policy covers what each of those sees.
Availability
We aim to keep Serany reliably available, but we don't promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We'll do what we reasonably can to fix problems quickly when they happen.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't legally be limited. Beyond that, our liability to you for any claim relating to the service is limited to the amount you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Ending your account
You can stop using Serany at any time by cancelling your subscription. We may suspend or end an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Either way, farewell websites already published stay online under the same terms described above, unless you ask us to take a specific website down.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
