What Serany thinks about this poem

Meaning

Treat everybody as dying, he says, and the things people do suddenly make sense: they are frightened children who grew up into adults with a mortgage. Everyone secretly believes they will be the one who gets away with it. It ends with a stranger refusing to give his name and asking what difference it would make.

Who's it for

A funeral the family want the room to leave kinder than it arrived. Right for a service that is as much about the living as the person who died.

Are you planning a funeral?

A Serany website keeps the whole funeral in one place: the plans and the details, who is coming, flowers and donations, and somewhere for everyone who knew them to leave a memory.
