What Serany thinks about this poem
Meaning
A mother's torch is meant to go out before her child's. When it happens the other way round she loses her own breath with it. The one comfort it offers is that she carries the child again, and keeps them this time.
Who's it for
A mother burying her child. It does not pretend that anything makes this bearable, which is why it can be read in the room.
