What Serany thinks about this poem

Meaning

It says grief behaves exactly like love. Loud and consuming at first, then quieter and settled, then surging back without warning. Great grief comes from great love, so the two sit together.

Who's it for

Anyone who thinks they should be further along by now. It describes what the next few years actually feel like, without promising they end.

Becky Hemsley

If—

This poem is for someone who got on with things, kept their temper, and didn’t make a fuss when life went against them. The sort of person other people steadied themselves against.

Are you planning a funeral?

A Serany website keeps the whole funeral in one place: the plans and the details, who is coming, flowers and donations, and somewhere for everyone who knew them to leave a memory.
